My cat got Sevin dust on him. Did I poison him? What do I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 17 days old | 6 lbs

I was told Sevins dust was safe but when I sprinkled it on my cat he acted as if it was burning him alive, then last night he started vomiting and not eating/drinking. He also meows like his is in a lot of pain. I saw him licking his paws and I am afraid that I poisoned my cat. I am very concerned and hope to see an answer from you. It would be greatly appreciated.

Sevin dust contains a carbamate and can be toxic to pets. It should not be applied topically. Your kitty should be bathed with dawn dish soap to remove any residue and should see a vet right away for treatment.
