My dog has black, bleeding skin with missing fur. Is it a hot spot?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 70 lbs

My dog has a huge piece of missing hair and skin that has become black and bleeding in certain spots. It is the size of her cheek. May I please have some help?

It does look like potentially it could be a hot spot that has been going on for a while and that Honey has been scratching. Ideally you should prevent her from scratching the area and have a vet check up so that she can have either further tests done or she might get some antibiotic and pain relief treatment.
