My dog got prednisone late. Can I still give the evening dose?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 4 years and 10 months old | 60 lbs

Tate was started on prednisone on Friday morning. The vet said give 1 pill twice a day for 3 days, then 1 pill once a day for three days, then every other day. Today was supposed to be his last day on the twice a day, but I have him his morning pill late. Instead of 9am it was 12. He is coming up on the time for his evening pill. Do I sick it and do an extra day of once a day or am I ok to give him a second pill at 9pm as scheduled? Wasn't sure as she said they were supposed to be 12hrs apart.

It is close enough you can get to your normal routine. If his twice a day dose is due at 9 you can give it tonight then start up once a day tomorrow. Whether you do once a in the morning it evening it does not matter, just stick to the time frame
