My 9-year-old dog had his first seizure. Is Amoxitab the cause?

My dog just had a seizure and it lasted about 45 seconds. Should i be worried about this? He has no history of having seizures. He is 9 years old and dachshund. I gave him amoxitab yesterday and I'm wondering if maybe that is what caused it. My vet gave me amoxitab for a bacterial infection my dog has. I would ask my vet this question but she is on vacation. Thank you.

Amoxitab is a mild form of penicillin so as long as it was the right dose for Lucky and he has no history of allergy I don't think it was related. Seizures in older dogs that have never had epilepsy usually indicate an underlying condition such as a liver problem or brain issue. Keep a really close eye and if he goes into another seizure I would go to your vet as an emergency, otherwise make a routine appointment to have a general health check.
