My dog's front tooth is cracked. How can I save it and what's the cost?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 years old | 41 lbs

Our dog is around 2 years old and we've just noticed she has a pretty substantial crack in one of her upper front teeth. It does not look like it's reached the pulp yet and she shows no signs of discomfort. What can be done to salvage the tooth? We're aware if left unattended, the crack could travel up into the root and cause the tooth to die, leaving extraction as the only viable option. What options are available to hopefully save her tooth? Around about what price range would they run?

Hi there! It may be that Riley would be a candidate for a crown to fit over the tooth, or a polymer coating. She may or may not need a root canal based on the involvement of the tooth root. As far as pricing it varies with your region and expertise of your doctor but it is not uncommon to range 1500-3000
