Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | 13 years and 3 months old | 70 lbs

Woke up this morning to my German shepherd limping. Noticed front left paw is swollen. And inner toe area is raw. Dont see a foriegn object in it life a fox tail or some sort. Have soaked in Epsom salt and applied peroxide and neosporin. She's also has fits of skin allergies where she will chew herself raw. Vet likes to always give a steriod injection. They dont really help her. Whst more can I do for her foot

Hi there. Poor Sadie! It sounds as if you have been diligent with her care-I would discourage more use of the hydrogen peroxide and continue with the salt soaks and neosporin (making sure she doesn't lick or eat any of it). You are doing everything you can at home-she may require antibiotics from your veterinarian and it's worth trying an allergy medication if these happen frequently. Hope this helps!
