My sibling rabbits bred. Will their babies have birth defects?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 3 days old

We thought we had 2 female rabbits but have just found out they are in fact 1 male 1 female. The female is now pregnant. Because they are siblings will the babies be mutated ?

Unfortunately because they are siblings, there is a higher risk of genetic defects appearing in the offspring but you won't know until after Lola gives birth. I would remove the male from her cage right away, and make an appointment at the vet to have him neutered to prevent any future pregnancies.
