My beagle takes Onsior for arthritis. Will stopping it cause pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | spayed | 7 years old | 35 lbs

My Beagle has been ( not formally diagnosed as yet ) but told possible osteoarthritis..so we were given onsier 20mg! We are nearly at the end of her course, thought we had got through tablets quicker than I can count, but I have realised that we have been given 2 x day and label states 1x day.. but sure thats what the vet told us to give her! When she runs out, is she gonna suffer a massive crash and be in lots of pain again! She does seem much better in herself.. no adverse side effects?

The acute side effects are usually vomiting and diarrhea from GI ulcers, the long term side effects are liver and kidney damage. There is no relapse or refractory pain from stopping this medication suddenly You vet may want to check the liver and kidney via bloodwork before refilling the medication at the decreased dosed
