Why are my Frenchie's bald patches getting worse despite treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 17 days old

Hi my female frenchies has bald patches. We have tried a dermodectic mange treatment but have not seen any improvement. We have another dog who doesn't have this. Our frenchies is now on a raw diet for the last 4-5wk to cut out grain. Her bowel movements are better and her coat is more glossy but the bald patches continue to increase. She also has salmon oil suppliment. Can you suggest any cause, diagnosis or treatment Kind regards Sam

Hair loss can occur for a number of reasons including mange, fleas, allergies and hormonal imbalances such as low thyroid levels. I would ensure you are using a high-quality flea preventative. If the bald patches are getting worse, I would recommend that you have Ella seen by a veterinarian. They may perform a skin scraping or even recommended skin biopsy to get a better idea of what's going on.
