Dog's tail limp after daycare: Broken, sprained, or just anxiety?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 3 years and 5 months old | 50 lbs

We recently picked up my lab mix dog from doggie daycare. Her tail is bent down and limp, different from its usual curled up shape. Should I be concerned that it's broken? Or is she just anxious? She's never been to daycare before, so I'm hoping it's just anxiety.

She may have Limber tail syndrome which is basically a sprained tail. The condition can be painful so she may need an anti-inflammatory and pain medications. Have your vet examine her to determine if treatment is needed.
