Why is my cat dragging her butt with diarrhea and stuck poop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 7 years and 9 months old | 18 lbs

Last summer I had my cat to 3 different vets & the last vet did some test and she didn't have no parasites she was on some fortiflora that I sprinkled a bit in about a quarter size of can meat 2 times a day and she wouldn't have any diarrhea but lately she has been getting it again and I guess this past week she's been dragging her butt on the carpet which I think it has to do with maybe some excess poop stuck to her fur maybe as she's been indoor cat since I had her with me at 4 wks of age help

Your cat's diarrhea could be caused by several things. The most common things that cause diarrhea in a cat are intestinal parasites, irritable bowel disease, or colitis (and inflammation of the colon). I would recommend taking your cat back to the vet again this summer. She may need a dewormer, or antibiotics to help clear up the diarrhea. She may also need to stay on a special diet for the rest of her life to prevent the issue from coming back.
