Is Apoquel causing my dog's lethargy, high lipase, or pancreatitis?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | neutered | 5 years and 11 months old | 86 lbs

Can apoquel be a cause of pancreatitis? My dog has elevated Lipasa with no other symptoms. Lately has been lethargic and my vet thinks he could have some kind of osteoarthritic pain that is making him not want to move, but the physical exam didn't show any. He was still placed on pain meds as a test to see if his activity level increases. He is only 6 years old and on a low fat diet for a month already because of the subclinical elevated lipasa.

Apoquel can cause vomiting and diarrhea but it typically does not cause pancreatitis. Arthur's can start at a younger age in large breed dogs or there can be a soft tissue injury. newer studies show amylase and lipase are not very specific for pancreatitis as once thought.
