My vet says to spay my 5-month-old Min Pin. Is it safe now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Female | 4 months and 19 days old | 2 lbs

My min pin is 5 months old now. And doctor has suggested to get her operated for uterus removal. Kindly advise is it safe to get her operated at this age because doctor informed this is a right time.

Keisha is so cute! Yes, it's absolutely fine to have her spayed now (removing the uterus). It's recommended to do it around six months of age, as it should be done before a dog goes into heat for the first time. Dogs can go into heat anytime after six months of age. It is safe to spay her, and I would have it done.
