My dog's neck is sore, he's gagging, and his bark changed. What's wrong?

My dog seems to be sore around his c1 vertebrae. It was sore when I lifted up his ear also but now I have managed to pin down the source of the pain to that area. He has also been gagging a lot this week but has not had access to anything that could cause a blockage. Another family member reported a change in the tone of his bark. Would you be able to tell me roughly the severity of the situation. He is booked in at the vets asap tomorrow

Twix could have a pinched disc along his neck, a pinched nerve, a middle ear infection or even inner infection to be causing the signs. Also sometimes a deep tooth root abscess in the back of the mouth can cause the signs. It's a good idea that you're going head with a vet visit tomorrow. I would not give him any pain medication until then as it can be very toxic for dogs. Depending on the cause he may need medication, dental x-rays and extractions, or a worst-case scenario would be surgery.
