Why is my cat's poop half solid and half diarrhea? Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 5 months old | 9.5 lbs

For about 3 days now my cat has been pooping sturdy, regular poop but as she is finishing up she poops out diarrhea. Half the poop is normal and the other half is diarrhea. I went ahead and sprinkled some fortiflora on her food but was wondering if this could be a sign of something serious.

Poor Frida! It sounds like her tummy might be a little upset. It does not sound like she needs regent medical attention at this time, but monitor her closely for decreased appetite, lethargy, vomiting and increased diarrhea or straining to defecate. Be sure you are using the fortiflora as directed for her size. If Frida is still experiencing these symptoms in a few days I would recommend a checkup with your vet. They can do a thorough physical exam, and may recommend blood work and a decals analysis to check for any internal problems that may be contributing to the changes you have noticed.
