My senior dog has pink skin bumps that are shrinking. Are they normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 years and 3 months old | 22 lbs

My 8 yo desexed male Maltese poodle cross gets these little pink "tick like" nodules on his skin, about 6 at the moment. They don't worry him and he leaves them alone completely. I notice they have been drying up and shrinking somewhat, I guess that is good? I'm told they are very common in poodles and other than keeping an eye on them for any changes can you confirm I can stop worrying over him? Thanks for a fantastic website, service and support!

Hi there! The thing that comes to mind when you describe Bear's skin condition are sebaceous cysts-a common but unbothersome condition many of our pets face. They may spontaneously resolve or "pop" and dry up, but usually more will form. Small mast cell tumors, plasmacytomas, etc can also present similarly but are less common. I hope this helps! As always, if they begin to bother your buddy, take him in to see your regular veterinarian and they can sample the nodules to find out exactly what they are. Best to you and Bear!
