Why is my dog's front leg limping after kennel, but no pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | 1 year and 4 months old | 60 lbs

My GSD is 1yr and appears to have some soreness in her front right leg. She recently had to spend some unexpected time in her kennel lasting all day and when arriving home that night she started to limp. She's not whining in pain, and she allows me to touch and hold her arm and shows no signs of pain but is still limping. I'm thinking she might of slept on it wrong. Can anyone help me out so Monah can stop limping or help me figure out what's wrong?

Dogs can limp for a variety of reasons including a soft tissue injury such as a sprain, infection, a fractured bone or damage to a ligament or tendon. In cases of a mild sprain or strain, reducing Monah's activity level for a few days should help her to heal. If the lameness is not improving, you notice any swelling or Monah seems lethargic you should have her seen by a veterinarian. They may recommend an xray to better determine what is causing the lameness.
