My puppy threw up foam, shivering, and uncomfortable. Vet visit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed |

My puppy threw up white foam 1 time, & then two more times but it was an off white/almost yellowish colored foam. She had an appetite a few hours after. Slept most of the day. But she has been shivering off and on, and has been moving around all day as if she's uncomfortable. What could be going on with her? Does this behavior require a vet visit?

I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian. I am concerned she is shaking after episodes of vomiting. You can take her temperature at home. Normal for a dog is 99-102.5. Unfortunately many things can cause vomiting like indigestion, foreign material, infections, pyometra, toxins and foreign objects. Since she is not feeling well a vet visit will help break down what is going on for proper treatment.
