Puppy's eyelid turns in, causing watery eyes. Can surgery fix it? Cost?

I am sorry to hear about your concern for Blue! The cost of surgery will vary greatly and depend on the vet hospital you take your dog to and the region in the country, as prices vary in different regions just like cost of living. I think a full ocular exam would give you more information on whether one or both eyes need to come out. The small eye may be congenital or may have already ruptured and may not be painful any longer. The larger eye could be large just because it looks bigger as compared to the small eye or could have glaucoma. KCS can easily be diagnosed with a vet, but will likely need life-long medications to manage, and these can be expensive depending on the medication and formulation used. Many dogs with severe KCS have their eyes enucleated and become much more comfortable. My impression from reading her file is that she has very painful eyes, and that this is a chronic pain. Bilateral enucleation would easily resolve this pain and may improve her quality of life drastically. The cost for this surgery can vary depending on the vet clinic chosen, you may call around and ask for rough quotes for bilateral enucleation. It could range from $700 to $1500 or more. This surgery is generally well tolerated but he will have to wear a cone around his neck for at least 14-21 days so that he does not scratch out the stitches. The longer you delay the surgical correction of the procedure, the more risk you run of the entropion causing trauma to the surface of the eye from the eyelid hairs scraping against the cornea. Cataract surgery probably varies widely as far as cost across the US but most large urban areas have eye specialists who received further training in eye problems and are certified opthalmologists. They would be the only vets I would trust with a cataract surgery since it is so specialized. These procedures typically are not inexpensive since they are only done by board certified veterinary opthalmologists. One of my concerns would be in this puppy is the other eye going to develop one? I wish you the best of luck with this situation. I would advise not breeding that female and male again since this is most likely a genetic problem but you can discuss this with your veterinarian. It is possible that some trauma caused the cataract.

Entropion is very common in Sharpei dogs. If it is causing a problem it does need surgical correction, and many times it will need to be repeated as a puppy grows. However if the eyelid is rubbing the eye there's the potential for corneal ulcer ration or damage said the surgery should not be delayed in these cases. If Teddi's surgery was just yesterday, he will still have some swelling in the eyelid from the surgery, which will make the eyelid look droopier (swelling will push the lower eyelid away from the eye). It should improve as the swelling goes down. Keep giving him the medication prescribed by your vet, and schedule a recheck for a week out from surgery to make sure he's healing appropriately. My suspicion is this will look significantly better in a week! Hope this helps!

Poor guy. What you describe sounds likes a condition called Entropion. This is a folding in of the eyelid, particularly the lower eyelid. This folded in eyelid has eyelashes attached and rubs on the eye cornea causing irritation. The clear liquid you see is a result of irritation caused by the rubbing eyelashes. An infection isn't present yet; however, Max still has an eye issue and needs to be evaluated by your vet. Typically pets with Entorpion require eye surgery to correct the lid, so talk with your vet about your options and cost for treatment.

You can continue with the Tobrex but if no improvement after 5-7 days he should see a vet. I suspect he may have entropion but I cannot tell for by looking at photos.
