If Jojo always would jump off the furniture before and has suddenly stopped I would worry about him being painful in one of his legs or his neck/back/spine. If this has always been his normal behavior then he is probably just scared of the distance. If you think Jojo is painful I would recommend taking him to the vet to get checked out.

if only Scout could talk! This could be related to pain when she jumps in her neck, back or hind legs. If there is pain, it could be situation/movement specific so you wouldn't notice it at a walk or run. It could also be related to some sort of negative association (like if she fell/hurt herself somehow). Since she can't talk and tell you why this is happening, I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian to be safe. The vet will check her spine, hips and knees for any signs of pain or abnormality. Then you will get a better idea of the reason for her behavior. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
