My dog's hind legs are weak after a tick bite. Is it tick paralysis?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 28 lbs

My dog suddenly got very weak in his hind legs this past week, By Thursday he was unable to move his hind legs. I found a tick on him Friday morning and I pulled it off. I thought I got all of it, but there is a bump where it was and black dot so I am wondering if the head is there. I am suspecting that my dog's paralysis happened b/c of the tick. I bathed him with Advantage Flea and Tick and I think I saw a few other ticks coming off, none as big as that one was. His symptoms today are worse

This is a medical emergency and Smooch has to see a vet now. He could be suffering neurological effects from the tick or he could have injured himself, and he has to have veterinary treatment now especially since his symptoms are worse. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
