I suspect this is either the development of cataracts or lenticular sclerosis. Both are age related changes. If they appeared rapidly, in combination with weight loss I would be concerned with a metabolic condition such as diabetes. It it was not sudden then this is likely a normal change associated with aging. If they are cataracts, they can be surgically corrected. Lenticular sclerosis is not reversible. Both can effect vision. A veterinary exam would help you sort this out.
