Why is my parvo puppy limping and not standing after vet visit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 15 lbs

Five month old puppy being treated for parvo - on his fifth day of fluids and antibiotics from the vet. After having energy this morning he came back from the vet limping and now won't stand. We are going back in to the vet in 12 hours but I'm worried and the vet's responses are vague and unhelpful. Any thoughts?

I'm very sorry Ghost has parvo! He could have accidentally injured himself somehow at the vet's, which would cause the limping and reluctance to stand. Given that he's going back to the vet in 12 hours, I would keep him quiet for now. Have him rest as much as possible, take him out to toilet on a lead only, and bring him right back in when he's done. When he's back at the vet's later, they can assess him for the cause of the limping.
