Dog pulling fur, flaky skin, brown specks. Is it mites or infection?

my dog is pulling his fur out hes had flea drops hes been to vet his skin is flaky with brown specks could he have mite the fur just drops out in clumps hes 13 year retriever he did smell very cheesy that has gone now they gave him steriods but after three/ four week after flea drops hes pulling fur out again

He could have mites and your vet can do a skin scrape to look for mites. Or your vet could just treat him with Revolution and see if that helps. He might also need an antibiotic to treat a skin infection. You could also bathe him with a medicated shampoo and see if that helps.
