Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Female | spayed | 6 months and 4 days old
Hello. My 6 month old puppy was spayed last week. Vets have made a mistake and the very end of the catheter has stayed in her vain and travelled in her bloodstream and stopped under the scapula. Vets say have to leave it and unlikely to cause her damage. No info online. Any advice/ knowledge? Please.

Depending on the size of the fragment, it may or may not cause an issue (catheter embolism) in the future. If it can be visualized on xray or ultrasound, monitoring its travel/location would be recommended. If it can, at any point, be retrieved with minimal risk it should be done. Monitor for lethargy, lameness, sudden onset extreme pain, difficulty breathing, swelling or bruising. See your vet immediately if Piper becomes painful anywhere near the fragment's present location.
