Can I crush my dog's antibiotic pills without losing effectiveness?

My dog has to take antibiotics because of a minor injury sustained very recently. I forgot to ask my vet this during the consultation and it does not say on the packaging, but if I crush the tablet until it's powdery and mix it in with his food, will the crushing take away from the antibiotic's effectiveness?
