What could cause a puppy's swollen back end and bloody stool?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bluetick Coonhound | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 15 days old

I have a 3 and a half month old puppy. Her entire back end is swollen and sometimes she presents blood. It's soft but doesn't seem to hurt her or affect her appetite or anything else. Do you know what this could be? She's a full bred bluetick hound

It sounds like Jasmine may have intestinal worms, which would cause her back end to be swollen and to have blood in her feces. I recommend taking her into the vet for an exam, along with a sample of her feces. The vet can examine her feces under a microscope, confirm she has worms, and can give her a deworming treatment. I would take her into the vet today or tomorrow during normal business hours.
