Your dog needs to be checked for a condition called "dry eye" which can lead to frequent infections and needs to be treated with special eye drops. another reason for frequent infections could be allergy affecting the eye. there isn't a preventive treatment to avoid infections of the eyes in general, in some dogs it could be due to the anatomy of the eyes (such as bulldogs and Sharpeis), those dogs often require surgery in order to prevent frequent infections.
