Why are my 4-week-old kittens' bellies swollen? Is it worms or food?

I have 3 Kittens , 4 weeks old- they have very swallon stomachs- they have not had a mum around so I have been feeding them whiskers mince food/ is this the cause? Please help I'm worried. Lisa

It sounds like they have intestinal worms. They are a very common cause of swollen bellies in kittens. You will need to take them into the vet for an exam, and the vet can prescribe a deworming treatment. Whiskers mince food is not the correct food for them if it is the adult formula. They need a high quality kitten formulated food, as kittens need higher amounts of calories, protein, and calcium than adult cats in order to grow properly. I would recommend feeding them a brand such as Royal Canin or Hills Science diet.
