Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 8 months old
I have a cat that has a cyst on its shoulder. The hair that was on the top of the cyst was covered in a grayish goo around the follicle. I removed the hair (it pulled out quite easily) which left a hole about 1cm in diameter. Under the skin and around the hole was a lump. I squeezed it and greyish fluid came out and the mass around it dissipated. I squeezed until I saw clean blood. Then I wiped away what appeared to be infectious fluid mixed with the blood. Cleaned with alcohol swab. Is this ok?

Yes this is ok. You will now need to watch whether it heals. It is likely a sebaceous cyst that got impacted, collected lots of sebaceous secretions and when there was no more room, it opened up like an abscess. If the hole shows no intention of healing at all within the next two or three days, I would have a vet look at it. Sometimes these cysts need to be removed in order for the defect to heal.
