My cat has struvite crystals, why is his rear end constantly wet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | neutered | 4 years old

My cat was diagnosed with struvite crystals on tuesday given antibiotics & pain injection. The bloody urine puddles have stopped but now his rear end is constantly wet. When he sits or lays there is an obvious wet area where he has been. There is no more blood in the urine, he is using the litter tray & passing small amounts of pee. He is drinking heaps but only licking a little gravy from wet food. Wont eat any prescription food. He is still getting oral antibiotics twice daily. What can u do?

It's important to know if he is on his way for a urinary blockage, which is what it sounds like, if this is the case he is going to get worse fast and needs to be taken back to the vet in order to get it checked, he might need hospitalization with a urinary catheter placed to avoid the blockage from re-occurring.
