My dog cut his quick, keeps licking. How long to keep paw wrapped?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 6 months old

I cut my dogs quick on accident, I got it to stop bleeding but I can't get him to stop licking it and reopening the wound. I've bandaged and put a sock on his paw, but how long should I keep it wrapped?

You can dip Cash's toe nail into a bar of soap which will close it off and stop the bleeding/seal it. Leave the sock on until tomorrow, then take it off and see whether Cash leaves it alone. If not, put the sock back on for a few days, and it should be healed by then and Cash should leave his toe alone.

I would recommend getting Cash an Ecollar, that will keep him from licking at his paw, and that way he doesn't have to wear a sock. You can get one from a pet store or at your vet's clinic. Just be careful about bandaging it too tightly, you don't want to accidentally cut off circulation to his paw. I would change the bandage whenever it becomes dirty, and monitor the cut. If it becomes red, swollen, warm to the touch, or discharges pus, then it is infected and he should see the vet for antibiotics. The bandage doesn't have to be kept on for more than a couple of days.
