Why is my cat's temperament changing? Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old

My cat of 1 years old has a drastic change in temperament. For about two weeks she seems standoff ish, quiet, not purring whatsoever. Even hissing at the other cat I own. (After he got out for half a day by accident). She has no sign of limping, should she be taken to the vet?

Yes, all these signs are not normal at all. These are general signs of disease, unfortunately almost any disease can manifest itself with those symptoms and for this reason I won't be able to give you an idea of what could be causing this. I would recommend taking your cat to the vet ASAP for a physical examination, if nothing obvious is found she will probably need a blood test or an ultrasound and the vet will then treat him according to the results.
