What vaccinations should my new rescue cat get if her age is unknown?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 4 months old

I'm thinking about adopting another cat. And since she's a rescue, her age is unsure. Can someone guide me for the vaccinations please. Thank you.

If you are unsure of vaccine status, she should get aFVRCP (feline distemper) vaccine followed by a booster 3-4 weeks later. A Rabies vaccine should also be given. She should also be tested for FeLV and FIV. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites.

The final set of vaccines should be given at 16 weeks of age (4 months) so I would advise to get Honey another round of vaccines. Indoor cats get FVRCP and Rabies vaccines. Adult cats that go outside also get FeLv. I hope I have answered your question. Thank you for using Pet Coach!
