My cat has Feline Calicivirus. Can it be treated or vaccinated?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Turkish Van | Female | spayed | 3 years and 5 months old

Hi there, Actually this is the first writing to you people, the thing is my cat has calici virus, she is 3 years and a half and she was not vaccinated for it. I have been said that it is too late to get her vaccinated as she already possessed the virus in her body. My question is, is there any way or injection for this particular issue. I will be grateful if you could help me. Looking forward to hear from you. Thank you. Best regards, Farzinah

It is true that if she has the virus, the vaccination is not likely to help much, but it is still recommended to vaccinate her as the vaccination will protect her from other diseases. There is unfortunately no known effective treatment for calicivirus, when it flares up it is recommended that the vet pute Fluffy on antibiotics and anti inflammatories.
