My senior cat shows no arthritis. Should I still give him glucosamine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 12 years and 9 months old

If my 12.5 year cat is asymptomatic, should I be giving him glucoseamine? His litter mate has arthritis so I am giving her dausquin.

Even if Mel is asymptomatic, it doesn't hurt to give him glucosamine. He could be starting to have some arthritis, which is common in older animals, but isn't at a point where the pain is obvious. Sometimes animals are good at hiding signs of pain until it's really painful, so I think giving this to him now is a good idea. It can only benefit him in the long run.
