Is Metacam a cause of pancreatitis in dogs, especially Yorkies?

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 7 years and 4 months old

I had two Yorkie's contact Kennecott off at a kennel they were given meta-cam one came down with pancreatitis I was told the meta-cam could have been a cause.

No, the Metacam would not have been a cause of the pancreatitis; in fact, it can be given as an anti-inflammatory in pancreatitis cases. Multiple factors can contribute to developing pancreatitis, such as diets high in fat, being overweight, metabolic disorders such as high amounts of lipids in the blood, genetics (Yorkies are more prone to it), and hormonal diseases such as Cushing's disease.

    Anything and everything can cause pancreatitis: change of food, stress (being taken to a kennel), hormonal diseases, certain medications (potassium bromide, some anti-cancer drugs and some antibiotics, Metacam is not listed), obese and overweight dogs appear more at risk, genetics: Yorkshire terriers seem to be more prone to pancreatitis. So unfortunately, unless they were given a fatty treat the day before, it would be very hard to pinpoint the specific cause.
