My Boston Terrier has green eye gunk and a cloudy ring. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Female | spayed | 11 years and 5 months old

My Boston Terrier, Zoe, her left eye started oozing green stuff yesterday. I noticed today that her eye has a cloudy ring in the middle. Does this mean that it has been punctured?

That may a corneal ulceration/ injury and requires an immediate check up. Boston terrier are unfortunately predisposed to corneal injury and an immediate check up could confirm or rule out dangerous melting ulcers which may result in a perforation.

It doesn't necessarily mean it has been punctured but she should be evaluated by a veterinary for treatment as soon as posible. Your vet can do an ocular examination to determine the cause and severity of the problem and then decide the best way to treat. She might just need some topical medications to treat.
