My cat ate a black-eyed Susan. She's still vomiting. Should I take her to the vet?

Cat ate black eyed Susan's Friday night. It's Wednesday and she is throwing up bile very frequently. Will it pass of do I take her to the vet

Poor Jolene! The black eyed susan is considered toxic to cats, and GI upset is seen, but it is usually self limiting and mild. In this case, given that she is still vomiting five days after ingesting it, I would be concerned and I do recommend taking her into your vet. I think it would be best to have her checked out by your vet, she may need a shot to help her stop vomiting, and may need other treatment depending on what your vet finds on physical exam. I would take her into your vet now.

Black eyed Susan is moderately toxic to cats in most cases, it causes mainly gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting, but if it has been going on since Fridays then I would strongly advise taking her to the vet in order to get some medications to stop the vomiting and sooth the stomach.

It may be or not related to the ingestion. Frequent vomiting could be caused by a pancreatitis and/or severe gastroenteritis. I would recommend an immediate check up. Radiograph and abdominal ultrasound may be needed to determine if an obstruction is present.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question. The Black Eyed Susan is moderately toxic to cats and causes vomiting, which you have seen. Given that he has thrown up the petals and is acting normally now, I'd just keep an eye on him for now. If he starts vomiting again, then I would have him seen by a vet. Move the plant out of his reach so he cannot eat anymore. Best of luck.
