Why does my male dog smell my female dog who has been spayed urine?

Most dogs are interested in smelling other dogs' urine - intact males are often especially interested, even if the other dog is spayed or neutered. They get lots of information about other dogs from sniffing their urine, so it's very normal social behavior for them - even if we find it a bit gross :)
