Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old

My dog jumped out of my car driving 35mph. He doesnt have any visible injuries and is acting perfectly normal. I am worried about internal bleeding.

That was naughty of Roy to do! You are correct there could be a chance of internal bleeding, but you report he acting perfectly normal, which would not indicate any internal bleeding at this moment. Because I can't see your animal in person, I am always going to recommend taking them into your vet to be safe. In my opinion, it's best to spend the money for a visit and have nothing wrong than to not have them checked out and potentially end up with a serious (and more expensive) situation on your hands. You can get him checked out to be safe if you wish, but you can also monitor him if you'd like. If he has any changes in behavior, eating, drinking, and going potty, he will need to see a vet right away.

This is something you cannot rule out by yourself, I recommend taking him to the vet for a checkup and possibly an xray and blood test to rule out any internal bleeding and internal injuries.

Ideally a check up would be needed as soft tissues and internal kind of injuries may show signs even after 48hours the trauma. A physical examination will certainly rule out any of those. Abdominal and chest radiographs may be needed.

Poor guy. With internal bleeding you will typically see bruising on the belly, chest, difficulty breathing, depression, and overall not doing well. Also check your pets gum color and make sure it is pink and not pale(indicates blood loss). Hopefully he is ok. You can also get him checked out by a vet just to make sure if you are uncertain.
