My dog is hyper, breathing fast, pupils dilated. What should I do?

My dog started acting very strange and I can't figure out why. Dilated pupils, breathing fast, acting restless and hyper. What can I do?

Based on your description, I would be concerned that Ebony may have gotten into something toxic such as chocolate, or may be having a reaction to some type of medication if she's taking anything currently. Without knowing for sure what is causing her symptoms, the safest course of action would be to have her seen by an emergency vet tonight - in some cases, dogs with these symptoms can have dangerous heart arrhythmias or other problems, which the vet can check for during their exam. Depending on what is found, they may recommend keeping Ebony tonight for observation, or blood work to help diagnose the problem.
