There are many things that can cause chronic diarrhea issues in dogs. The most common possibilities would include intestinal parasites, food allergies, or inflammatory bowel disease. If your dog is acting normal otherwise, you can try deworming her with a broad-spectrum dewormer such as Panacur. You could also try feeding a bland diet of plain boiled chicken and rice for a few days to see if this helps. If not, then I would recommend having her examined by a vet - he/she can do some fecal testing and blood work if needed to determine the problem.

Poor Harper! This diarrhea could be caused by intestinal parasites, GI illness, or a foreign body. Because you have tried a bland diet and the fact that her diarrhea has been on-going for a week, she should see a vet today. The home remedy isn't working, so the vet needs to examine her to see what is causing her to continually have diarrhea. Once the cause is found, she can be treated appropriately.

I would encourage you to visit with your veterinarian again. Texas A and M offers a great diarrhea panel looking for infectious causes. If that is normal I would consider an abdominal ultrasound. Based on those results there may be a recommendation for intestinal biopsies. If not there are special prescription diets to try. Easily digestible, Hypoallergenic, and high fiber diets. Often it does take trials to see what helps. Best of luck, and I hope you find an answer soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.

Since it sounds like this is a recent change for Lola, the first thing I would recommend would be to have her checked for intestinal parasites - these can be present even if you don't see any worms in her stool, and can often cause problems like the ones you describe. You can take a fecal sample to your vet's office for analysis - if a problem is found, he/she will prescribe appropriate medication to treat it. If the parasite check comes back negative, there are a few other things that you can try. First, a daily probiotic mixed in her food may be helpful - Forti-Flora is a good brand for dogs. You may also want to try changing her diet, since there may be an ingredient in her current food that doesn't agree with her. Food allergies and intolerances can develop over time, so this can still be the problem even if nothing has changed recently. If these things don't help, then I would recommend having her examined by a vet - she may need blood work or other diagnostic testing to help determine the problem.
