How big will my 7-month-old 42lb rescued hound mix puppy get?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 8 months old | 43 lbs

My dog is a hound mix and was saved from the shelter. I don't know how big he will get, but I think he will be a big dog. He is already 7 months old and is 42 pounds. Will he be a big dog? He seems to be a mix of a Harrier hound with beagle coloring.

Atlas is a very handsome boy, congrats on your new dog! At seven months old, he will be getting close to his full size, and while he will grow some more (dogs typically reach adult size between one year to 18 months of age), he won't double in size from where he is currently. I would expect a little more growth from him but not a massive change in size or weight :-)
