Dog won't drink after flying. How to get my dehydrated dog to drink?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 10 lbs

My 7yo Chihuahua ia acting strange. I'm worried he may be dehydrated. I havnt seen him drink or eat much. Its been a few days since we flew from seattle, WA to Sarasota, FL. He basically didn't eat anything or drink anything the whole trip. Assuming he was just upset. But now being here in FL at my friends house, within a few days, hes now acting strange. Is there any advice to help get my pup to drink? Otherwise ill be taking him in to get checked out tomorrow

Monk may be feeling stressed after the plane ride and now with being in a new environment. You can try feeding him some wet food to get more water in him or try adding water to moisten his kibble. I would also recommend feeding him in a quiet area away from other pets and people so he can focus on eating. If you are unable to get him to eat or drink anything then I think taking him in for a checkup is a good idea.
