I noticed this clear stuff in my rabbits eye a couple days ago. It's not bothering him at all. He's still eating, drinking and playing like normal. Hasn't rubbed at his eye at all. He's 9 yrs old and has had the cataract about 4 yrs. Is this something I should take him to the vet for? He gets so stressed in his carrier and since he's not bothered by it I'd rather not take him unless it could be serious.

Hello. Sorry Riley is having this issue. A vet visit is always recommended as we cannot diagnose conditions over the internet. You know him best so if you think he isn't in pain and it's not bothering him at this stage you can always elect to just monitor him. Clear ocular discharge is not very worrisome. I would be more worried if the discharge was green or yellow or if his eye was matted shut or he was squinting the eye. The cataract can shift causing some issues but I doubt that is the case. I hope this is helpful. Best wishes to you!

It is difficult to say what may be going on. When they squint/close they eye, there is usually either an injury to the eye or they have something inside irritating the eye. The squinting is form pain. I really suggest you get her to the vet for an exam. If she was not squinting I would not be as worried just about the eye discharge. If there is an eye injury it needs to be treated quickly and appropriately or there could be serious complications. If you want to try something at home until you get a vet appointment you can use this eye gel/wash in all the rabbits eyes.
