My dog's paw has a red, swollen, bleeding blister. What should I do?

Poor Gizmo! That looks really sore. The lesion in the picture could be an abscess, a very large interdigital cyst or a tumor. I would recommend that you have Gizmo seen by your veterinarian. They may recommend a fine needle aspirate of the lesion to get a better idea of what is causing the swelling. Surgery may be required to lance and drain the abscess or remove a mass if present.

    Gizmo may be dealing with an abscess, infection, mass, or trauma to the area. It may even be due to him walking on hot pavement. Gizmo should be seen by a veterinarian asap, as this looks quite painful. Pain medications meant for humans can be very dangerous (and even deadly) for dogs, so I do not recommend giving any to your pup without consulting with your vet. Your veterinarian can prescribe safe medication if needed.
