Yes I would say it's pretty common for large breed dogs to have fewer litters and often times just 1 puppy in the entire litter. It's all genetics and a roll of the dice. The pup is a cutie. Hopefully Samantha is a good mom and can focus on taking real good care of her single pup. Best wishes and take care.
