My female betta is at tank bottom. Should I move her to new tank?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My female betta is just lying at the bottom of her tank and she will only come up to eat, I bought a 10 gallon tank with a divider and I have a male beta in there. Should I wait to put her in?

Bettas may hibernate or stay at the bottom of the tank if they are stressed or too cold. Making sure your filter is working properly and the tank is at the right temperature of 70-75 degrees F may help. Checking for any signs of illness and testing the water can also help clue you in to any issues. It would be best to make sure Kira is feeling well first before the stress of adding her to a new tank with a tank mate.
