Why are my dog's dry, green, painful ears, nose, eyes, and genitals?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi, my friend's dog's ears, nose, eyes, and penis are very dry and turning a greenish color. It hurts if she tries to touch it. Is this an infection or allergies?

I think allergies are a possibility, there may be a secondary infection as well. Based on the locations of the lesions it could also be an auto-immune disease, as there are a few that can cause crustiness around the nose and eyes. Lastly, some endocrine conditions such as Cushings disease or hypothyroidism can cause skin problems as well. I'd have your friend take her dog to the vet so they can figure out the best way to treat it.
